Web Reference: Aug 5, 2023 · Owlbear dead. Went into the cave from the craggy hole in the cliff, owlbear was there and beat my ass so I instantly climbed back up, and took a long rest. When I went back, the owlbear was dead. What gives? I just took its egg and left, but I feel robbed out of a cool fight... Successful attempt: I walked right through the front door, killed every goblin, and was able to talk to the owlbear cub after the fight. It showed up at camp in a cutscene the next time I long rested and I fed it some food. I'll update again if it stays in a more permanent manner. The party can summon the owlbear to assist in the final battle using Gather Your Allies, though he is one of two major characters who can permanently die in this fight and be removed from the Epilogue, the other being Zevlor.
